Codex can recall the next run. Here's the hosted MCP path.

The blank run

A new Codex thread does not automatically hold last run's repo conventions. ChatGPT also has its own “memory” product. That product is not Memento. This page is hosted memory for your codebase, next run, over MCP.

What Memento is here

Memento at mementoagi.com is hosted memory for coding agents. The MCP URL is https://api.mementoagi.com/mcp (streamable HTTP). Auth today is an API key as a Bearer token from your account — not OAuth. Memory is markdown pages you can read and edit on the web.

We are not in OpenAI's ChatGPT / Codex directory yet. The well-known challenge route still waits on a portal token. Do not write as if the listing is live.

Other GitHub “Memento” repos are different tools (abandoned Neo4j, local SQLite, and several local MCP experiments). Hosted is mementoagi.com.

Install (honest)

Getting Started hides the Codex tab. There is no one-click Codex install on mementoagi.com today.

What you can do:

1. Create a free account at https://mementoagi.com/signup and copy an API key.
2. In the Codex / ChatGPT MCP client, add a remote server: URL https://api.mementoagi.com/mcp, Authorization Bearer <your-api-key>.
3. Privacy and terms are public on mementoagi.com. Support: [email protected].

Getting Started still points install walkthroughs at Cursor (?ide=cursor) and Claude Code (?ide=claude-code). Use those pages for those tools. For Codex, the MCP URL plus the key is the path that exists.

First handshake

Connected means initialize, tools/list, and a tools/call with that key. Same definition as Cursor and Claude Code.

This run

• full-search before guessing stored conventions.
• remember / write-node for decisions that should survive this run.

Edit a wrong page on the web. The next run reads the correction.

Next run

Same key. Search first. That is persistent memory across Codex runs.
