The blank session

Start a new Claude Code thread and last night's chat is not sitting there. Claude Code can still be strong inside one session. What this page covers is your repo, next session: conventions, architecture, the gotcha you already paid for. That is not a claim that Claude Code has no memory of its own.

This page is hosted Memento at mementoagi.com. It is not Claude-Mem (the local engine, with an optional CMEM Cloud plan).

What Memento is here

Memento is hosted memory for coding agents over MCP at https://api.mementoagi.com/mcp. Brand: Memento, paired with mementoagi.com. Memory is markdown pages you can read and edit on the web. We are not in Anthropic's official directory yet.

Other GitHub projects use the same name. gannonh/memento-mcp is abandoned Neo4j. runmemento.com is local SQLite. iAchilles, lfrmonteiro99/memento-mcp, and shane-farkas/memento-memory are different local tools. Hosted is mementoagi.com.

Install (honest)

There is no cursor://-style one-click for Claude Code.

Paths that exist today:

1. Create a free account at https://mementoagi.com/signup.
2. After sign-in, open Getting Started for Claude Code. Signed-out visits redirect to /signup. Getting Started still defaults to the Cursor tab if you omit ?ide=claude-code.
3. Use the Claude Code install snippet on that page (claude mcp add … with your key), or the community plugin path memento@memento-plugins.
4. The CLI package @mementoagi/install lives in the pangea repo. It is not published (npm token expired). Do not treat npx @mementoagi/install as a public install.
5. The public Claude plugin bundle may still be missing userConfig and .mcp.json until the mementoagi GitHub repo is pushed. Official directory submit is still pending.

First handshake

Same definition as Cursor: initialize, tools/list, and a tools/call against https://api.mementoagi.com/mcp with your key. That is connected.
