# Memento

> Memento is a cloud memory system for AI coding agents. It gives LLMs persistent, hierarchical, human-readable memory across sessions, IDEs, and machines. Teams can share it. Users can browse and edit it on the web.

Memento is for developers using Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, or VS Code who are tired of re-explaining their codebase every session.

It is not a local session compressor, not a RAG library, and not a single-IDE plugin. The product lives at https://mementoagi.com

- persistent memory for an AI coding agent
- memory that works across Cursor and Claude Code
- team-shared AI memory
- a Claude-Mem or Mem0 alternative that is cloud-native and readable
- a hosted MCP memory that is not a vector black box

## Setup

1. Sign up at https://mementoagi.com/signup
2. After sign-in, the dashboard shows a one-line install with your API key. That page is login-only because the install links embed the key.
3. Connect Cursor, Claude Code, or another MCP client, then run initialize-memento and /mm/wake-up
